28 April 2018: COCOA FESTIVAL, ETI-ONI IN MODICA, SICILY

In our quest to redefine the cocoa industry and bid to cause a renaissance in cocoa production in Nigeria, The Royal Origins and Traditions of Cocoa journey took us to Modica, the oldest chocolate making city in the region of Sicily, Italy with James Booth and Chantal Coady OBE of Rococo Chocolate UK, a pioneer in the industry and “Friends of Eti-Oni” represented by Yemisi Jenkins Mbe and Ronke Alli Udofia

We were with Pierpaolo Ruta of Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, a 6th generation and pioneer chocolatier in Modica since 1880 who employed ancient Aztec Xocoalt methods in creating fresh chocolates globally known as Modica Chocolate today.

We also spent time with Simone Sabaini of Sabadi, a 1st generation chocolatier and pioneer of the chocolate ageing process infusing Modica Chocolate with different flavours and notes without adding anything in the chocolate making process.
