The Conference is open to those who have interests not only in cocoa but agriculture as a whole as it will be addressing sustainability, the value chain and operational challenges, the environment as well as funding. It will be a good forum for a prospective Cocoa farmer to gain a lot of knowledge.

I have followed Kabiyesi and the Eti Oni Cocoa project with keen interest and I will like to commend the focus and dedication giving to the development of the Cocoa industry in Nigeria. In the meantime, what is the plan to develop a robust Farmers cooperative that will project and protect the local farmers in Nigeria? Is there any plan for a cocoa board or Cocoa commodity exchange or farmers commodity exchange where we can all pool resources of our farm produce and do a single contact and engagement with prospective farmers? Can we partner with companies who can help turn our produce to semi-finished or finished goods with the focus on generating additional resources to aid the government in the drive for non-oil foreign exchange and exports?

For future events, invitations should be extended to key stakeholders like NIRSAL, DAWN Commission etc. These two organizations are presently working on the “Let’s Do Cocoa” project, which involves all the coca producing states in the country.
