The Oloni of Eti-Oni (CHAIRMAN, ETI-ONI DEVELOPMENT GROUP)
His Royal Majesty Oba (King) Dokun Thompson, The Oloni of Eti-Oni, Osun state of Nigeria is a unique monarch, a lover of Christ and a devoted Christian. History was made 8 December, 2008 when he became the first traditional ruler in Nigeria to be installed inside the church according to the scriptures with the pouring of oil over his head and the adorning of the traditional beads and staff by priests of the Anglican Communion, Christ Apostolic Church and The Apostolic Faith Mission.
Oba Dokun attended the prestigious Kings College Lagos which was established in 1909 by a charter of the UK Parliament and obtained a B.Sc degree in mechanical engineering from Nigeria’s premier University of Ibadan in 1990 and went into private business as an entrepreneur after graduating. He is a keen golfer and great supporter of building the talents and gifts in the younger generation, using the scriptures as a guide to bringing out the best in them to have a purposeful and fulfilled life.
Prior to being installed The Oloni of Eti-Oni, he had a stint in politics between 2003 and 2007 and was nominated as a member of the newly established Osun State Rural development Board. In addition to his traditional role, he sits on the board of some private companies and non-governmental organisations and founded the African Natural Rulers, ANR Initiative in 2015 which is a platform focused on redefining Africa to address the issues of conflict, poverty, health, education, housing and environment to achieve sustainable primary socio-economic development particularly in rural areas.
Oba Dokun Thompson regularly features in several international conferences and events to speak on matters of peace, sustainable development and cultural education as they relate to Africa.
