Rear Admiral Adeniyi is a highly accomplished Retired Senior Naval Officer, a Strategist, a diplomat and an Administrator with experience spanning over 35 years.

He started his military career at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna in 1974 and later trained at some of the best naval institutions around the world. He had his Basic Naval Courses at the Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, United Kingdom, his Specialist Course in Naval Communication at the Indian Naval College Venduruthy India and his Naval Staff Courses at the prestigious Royal Naval Staff College Greenwich, London. He is an Alumni of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.

As a seasoned professional, he commanded various classes of sea going vessels, which include Fast Attack Craft (Missiles) and the Nigerian Flag Ship; Nigerian Naval Ship ARADU.

He was a two time Flag Officer Commanding, firstly, the Sea Training Command and then the Eastern Naval Command. A two time Principal Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja as the Chief of Administration and Chief of Policy and Plans.

Admiral Adeniyi served in representative capacities twice outside Nigeria, as the Leader of the Nigerian Navy Training Team to MALABO, Equatorial Guinea and as the Defence Adviser to the Republic of Cameroon with concurrent accreditation to Central Africa Republic and Congo Brazaville.

Admiral Adeniyi is well decorated with both Military and National Honours, which includes the Distinguished Services Star (DSS), Member of the National Institute (mni) and Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).
